Regulation: 511-6-1.04(4)(q) - food storage (c)
Observed boxes of bananas on the floor in the WIC. CA: Food in packages and working containers may be stored less than 6 inches (15 cm) above the floor on case lot handling equipment if the equipment can be moved by hand or by conveniently available apparatuses such as hand trucks and forklifts. PIC will put the boxes on a shelf.
17B - garbage/refuse properly disposed; facilities maintained
Regulation: 511-6-1.06(5)(n) - covering receptacles (c)
Observed the dumpster lids not closed. CA: Receptacles and waste handling units for refuse, recyclables, and returnables shall be kept covered with tight-fitting lids or doors if kept outside the food service establishment. PIC will close the lids.
17D - adequate ventilation and lighting; designated areas used
Regulation: 511-6-1.07(4)(b) - designated areas for employee activity, located to prevent contamination of food, equipment, utensils, linens, & single service articles (c)
Observed employee's drinking cup on the counter next to items that will be served to customers. CA: Areas designated for employees to eat, drink, use tobacco products and electronic devices shall be located so that food, equipment, linens, and single-service and single-use articles are protected from contamination. PIC moved the cup to the designated area for employee's items.
