Observed facility unable to provide water test logs. (1) All swimming pools and spas covered by this Chapter shall be maintained under the supervision and direction of a properly trained operator who shall be responsible for the sanitation, safety, and proper maintenance of the pool and all related equipment, and for and daily recordkeeping. EHS informed the PIC of the need for the CPO to leave test logs at the facility.

Observed facility unable to provide CPO certification. CPO listed prior contacted the office to state that he is no longer the CPO. (2) The trained operator shall have a current certificate showing completion of an approved operator training course. A copy or the original certificate or documentation shall be available onsite for inspection by the Health Authority. Facility is to provide certification for the individual currently servicing the pool.

Observed low alkalinity and calcium hardness levels. EHS informed the PIC of the need for the CPO to balance the water chemistry.

Observed back side entrance gate that does not self-close/latch. (h) Access gates shall also comply with the requirements of this Rule and shall be equipped to accommodate a locking device. Barrier gates shall open away from the pool in facilities constructed after adoption of this chapter. Pedestrian access gates shall be self-closing and have a self-latching device. Gates other than pedestrian access gates shall have a self-latching device. Where the release mechanism of the self latching device is located less than fifty-four inches from the bottom of the gate, 1. The release mechanism shall be located on the pool side of the gate at least three inches below the top of the gate and 2. Any openings in the gate or barrier located within eighteen inches of the release mechanism shall be less than one-half inch. 3. Mechanisms controlled by an access card reader, key entry device or keypad shall be located on the outside of the access gate. EHS spoke with maintenance and the PIC about ensuring the all gate entrance self-close/latch/lock even thought the clubhouse is used as the only entry.

Observed PH levels too high to give a numerical reading. (2) Chemical Values: pH 7.2 7.4-7.6 7.8 Alkalinity (buffering), 60 ppm 80-100 halogens compounds with high pH 180 ppm as CaC03 100-120 halogen compounds with low pH Calcium hardness, ppm, CaCo3 150 200-400 to balance water 1000. EHS informed maintenance and the PIC of the water chemistry levels.

Observed pool hours and bather load needing to be posted in larger numbers/letters (4 inches) near pool entrance. (c) A sign shall be posted stating the hours of operation in clear view near the entrance and shall state the theoretical peak occupancy. EHS informed maintenance and the PIC of the need to increasing number/letter sizing.

EHS observed free chlorine of 1.22 ppm. Violation: during operation pools using cyanuric acid or stabilized chlorine shall have a free chlorine level of 2.0-10.0 ppm. CA: increase free chlorine levels using erosion feeder.

EHS observed pH of 7.0. Violation: during operation pH shall be 7.2-7.8. CA: increase pH to minimum of 7.2.

EHS observed flow meter with float stuck at bottom. Violation: flow meter to measure flow in gpm shall be provided. CA: repair or replace flow meter.

EHS observed left pressure gauge not functioning reading 0 psi when pump running. Violation: pressure, vacuum gauge, or other means of indicating system condition shall be provided. CA: repair or replace pressure gauge.

EHS observed facility unable to provide current CPO certificate they have changed CPOs and have pool company servicing in interim but no certificate for company. Violation: CPO certificate shall be available onsite upon request. CA: obtain copy of CPO certificate and keep on site.

Chapter 511-3-5.17(2) Chemical Values. EHS observed alkalinity at 35 ppm. Violation: alkalinity shall be between 60 and 180 ppm. CA: increase alkalinity to minimum of 60 ppm. Ideal range is 80-100 ppm.
