The main doors from the building to the pool deck (bubble is no longer up) pushes out and does not have a release mechanism at least 54" above the ground. The building and pool will have renovations prior to next season. The access to the pool must be addressed prior to permitting next season. A lifeguard is always on duty during pool operations at this time. Access gates shall also comply with the requirements of this Rule and shall be equipped to accommodate a locking device. Barrier gates shall open away from the pool in facilities constructed after adoption of this chapter. Pedestrian access gates shall be self-closing and have a self-latching device. Gates other than pedestrian access gates shall have a self-latching device. Where the release mechanism of the self latching device is located less than fifty-four inches from the bottom of the gate, 1. The release mechanism shall be located on the pool side of the gate at least three inches below the top of the gate and 2. Any openings in the gate or barrier located within eighteen inches of the release mechanism shall be less than one-half inch. 3. Mechanisms controlled by an access card reader, key entry device or keypad shall be located on the outside of the access gate.

Proper letter sizing for "no diving' is not present on the deck. The words "No Diving" and the universal international symbol for “NO DIVING” shall be permanently visible at the edge of the deck for water five feet in depth or less, placed only on the deck beside the depth markers, and shall conform to that outlined for depth markers

The exterior fence gates around the pool are propped open. The main pedestrian gate is self closing, but was propped open with a trashcan. The double gate, maintenance entrance, is not self closing and must remain closed and locked to prevent unauthorized access to the pools. The front gate is closed and employee states he will go close the maintenance gate.

The back double maintenance gate, near the pump room is left open. Access gates shall also comply with the requirements of this Rule and shall be equipped to accommodate a locking device. The strong pole with body hook and ring buoy with attached rope are not present. Even though lifeguards are present, the required safety equipment must be present on the deck. Provide a minimum one-fourth inch diameter throwing rope one and one-half times the maximum width of the pool or fifty feet in length, whichever is less, to which has been firmly attached a ring buoy with an outside diameter of approximately fifteen inches or a similar flotation device which is U.S. Coast Guard approved and A light, strong pole not less than twelve feet long including body hook.

The turnover for the pool does not meet the required 6 hour turnover rate. Ensure all equipment is working properly and adjust the location of the flowmeter if needed.

There is no available documentation to verify a daily safety check is being performed. A safety self-inspection shall be conducted daily by the trained operator or responsible person and documented on a log sheet.

The weirs are not present in each skimmer. Replace weirs. Each skimmer shall have a weir that adjusts automatically to variations in water level over a minimum range of four inches.

There is no available documentation to verify the CPO is checking the required pool components per the code. Written documentation of the operator’s visits must be available at the pool facility. At a minimum, the written record must indicate the condition of the circulation and sanitizing equipment, pool deck, and safety equipment.

The bather load for the pool is not posted. Our records do not indicate a bather load. Additionally, when the bubble is up, the pool deck is decreased due to size of bubble. The Fire Department has indicated a maximum capacity of 480 within the bubble. If the City has any plans for the pools that would allow the surface area of the pools and deck to be calculated, we can determine the correct amount per the pool code.

There is no documentation available to verify the annual gas fired inspection has been performed. See attached gas fired inspection sheet for requirements.

The temperature of the pool exceeds 90 degrees F. For a pool at 90 degrees or more, a turnover rate of 30 minutes must be met. The filtration equipment for the pool can not handle a rate of 30 minutes. Therefore, the temperature of the pool must be reduced to 89 degrees F or below.
